Solar Power Purchase Agreements

Following consultation by the Public Utilities Office (PUO), the Minister for Energy today announced extending retail license exemptions to third parties providing solar power systems to electricity customers.

Solar power purchase agreements involve a solar power company installing a system on a customer’s roof at no up-front cost, with the customer signing an agreement to buy all the electricity supplied from the system for a set period at an agreed price.

The PUO released a draft recommendations report for consultation on 7 July 2016, with submissions closing on 7 August 2016.  A final recommendations report was published later in August.
