The ERA’s Gas Marketing Code Consultative Committee (the Committee) has just completed public consultation on proposed changes to the Gas Marketing Code of Conduct. This is part of the two yearly review of the Code undertaken by the Committee, who make seven recommendations for changes to the Code that relate to the marketing of gas and gas related services to residential and small business customers. These mostly related to:
- consistency with regards the terminology used in the Code;
- clarity around the definitions of certain words in the Code; and
- requirements as to the information provided to potential customers by marketing agents.
The ERA accepted the seven recommendations made by the Committee and depending upon responses received from stakeholders during the consultation process, will seek to finalise the Code over the coming month.
