Electricity Market Review – Gazettal of new Market Rules

On 31 May 2016, the Government gazetted amendments to the Wholesale Electricity Market Rules relating to:

  • the transfer of System Management functions from Western Power to the Australian Energy Market Operator (WA); and
  • transitional arrangements for the 2016 Reserve Capacity Mechanism.

These reforms are part of the Wholesale Electricity Market Improvements programme of work within the wider Electricity Market Review.

An updated (but unofficial) consolidated version of the Wholesale Electricity Market Rules is available from the Public Utilities Office.
