Electricity Market Review – Compliance and Enforcement

On 1 July 2016, the Independent Market Operator’s (IMO) compliance and enforcement functions transferred to the Economic Regulation Authority (ERA).

The remaining functions and responsibilities of the IMO are expected to be transferred later in the year, primarily:

  • the reliability criteria in the wholesale electricity market
  • rule-making in regard to the wholesale electricity market rules and the gas services information arrangements.

Following the transfer of these final functions, it is expected that the IMO will be wound-up later in the year.
