Future Effect’s commercial portfolio provides public and private sector organisations with commercial advice relating to all aspects of commercial business decision making. Future Effect can assist if you or your organisation is undertaking or anticipating:

The commercial portfolio is headed by our Associate Director Nenad Ninkov. Nenad has 30 years’ experience in the Transport, Rail and Energy (Electricity and Gas) Industries. He has successfully held a number of high profile and strategically-focused roles across both the public and private sectors and across both the electricity and gas supply industries. These positions have included executive roles within State-owned energy businesses including SECWA and Western Power and most recently as Alinta Energy’s General Manager of Wholesale and Western Australian Operations.

Nenad has actively supported energy market developments both within Western Australia and nationally. He is a past chairman of the Electricity Supply Association of Australia and Australian Gas Association committees responsible for developing industry performance standards and the Australian Electricity Supply Industry Research Board (AESIRB) responsible for the allocation of funding for research in the electricity industry. He is a past panel member of the Western Australia’s Energy Board of Review Panel; the Market Advisory Committee; the Energy Advisory Board; and the Independent Power Association.

Commercial Advice

Nenad focusses on providing commercial advice to the energy sector, including the identification and development of new business opportunities, engagement with financiers and end-to-end commercial and operational risk assessments. Recent projects undertaken by Nenad have included development of Power Purchase Agreements; preparation of project feasibility studies and the provision of policy advice.

Other recent activities undertaken within our commercial portfolio include the:

  • provision of strategic commercial advice to upstream gas producers;
  • identification, commercial evaluation and development of energy projects in regional Western Australia – including the Kimberley and Pilbara regions;
  • development of asset valuation, utilisation and life-cycle assessment tools that sit alongside our partner’s internal asset management systems or provide a bespoke asset analysis capability;
  • development of tools that can model the long-term financial impacts of various asset scenarios, including:
    • construction and purchase of new assets; and
    • the replacement or retirement of existing assets.
  • application of sound accounting and regulatory principles to the allocation of capital and operating costs benefitting from our knowledge of a company’s working environment as well as the experience gained from cost accounting across different industries and countries.
    • Our clients benefit from the identification of a range of cost (tax and return on investment) savings that could be achieved through the adoption of a clearer and more disciplined approach to cost allocation.
